The new film award: And the Jane goes to …
The CALL Film Festival will present film awards annually for outstanding achievements. At the centre of these awards is not the work, the film itself, but the people who have created it or embody it.
Jane. A very special award.
She is 45 centimetres tall, stands on a highly polished prism plinth, has the silhouette of a woman, holds a crystal globe in her arms, and is the trophy that future winners of the CALL Film Festival will be able to take home with them.
Above all, however, she carries the name of strong, unique women who stand for everything the CALL Film Festival holds dear. The founder of the CALL Film Festival, Christina Zappella-Kindel, gave the film award the name „Jane“.
Jane Fonda. Jane Goodall. Jane Austen. Jane Birkin.
Jane because there is hardly any other name that stands so strongly for strong, independent, and inspiring women. It connects generations, cultures, and spheres of life – from science and art to social change.
Jane Fonda embodies artistic excellence, attitude, and decades of socio-political engagement. Jane Goodall stands for courage, humanity, and tireless commitment to nature, animals, and our planet. Jane Austen still stands today for intelligence, independence, and female self-determination in a time of great social constraints. Jane Birkin symbolises style, creativity, and cultural freedom.
The name Jane thus brings together qualities that the CALL Film Festival also seeks to honour: courage, attitude, creativity, independence, and the power to change the world for the better. It is deliberately simple, internationally understandable, and at the same time full of meaning. Jane is more than a name – it is a statement.
The first Jane winners have already been announced: Kim Cattrall and the Scorpions
One has given women around the world a new sense of consciousness. The others have shaped the history of music and are among the greatest rock stars of all time. Read more about the first winners of the CALL Film Festival Awards, the Jane.
