The Committee of the CALL Film Festival: A strong team
In its very first year, the CALL Film Festival has succeeded in bringing together a strong festival committee, which advises the founders and the organisation.
Oscar winner Stefan Ruzowitzky
Stefan Ruzowitzky is an internationally acclaimed film director and screenwriter whose work is characterised by narrative precision, a strong visual language, and an exceptional thematic range. For his film „Die Fälscher“ (The Counterfeiters), he was awarded the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film and has since been counted among the most distinctive European voices in contemporary cinema.
His filmography spans a broad spectrum, from intense dramas to genre-crossing productions that captivate both audiences and critics worldwide. Over the course of his career, he has worked with renowned international actors such as Clive Owen, Stanley Tucci, Natalie Dormer, Mélanie Laurent, and Olivia Wilde.
Ruzowitzky stands for a cinema that combines suspense with social relevance, while always preserving a clear artistic signature.
As a member of the CALL Academy & the Festival Committee, Stefan Ruzowitzky brings his comprehensive experience and creative perspective to the programmatic direction of the festival.
Robert Dornhelm
Robert Dornhelm is an internationally multi-award-winning and recognised film and television director whose work is characterised by narrative depth, historical precision, and powerful emotional force. Over the course of his career, he has been nominated for the highest international honours in film and television, including the Oscar, the Golden Globe, and the Emmy.
Among his best-known cinema productions are „Echo Park“, „The Venice Project“, and „A Further Gesture“, which impressively underline his versatility between European auteur cinema and international narrative film. His works are distinguished by a particular focus on character development and atmospheric density.
In television, too, Dornhelm has set benchmarks and contributed to a number of internationally successful and widely noted productions, including „Vienna Blood“, „Rise of the Raven“, and „The Amanda Knox Story“. His works combine historical material with contemporary relevance and reach a global audience.
As a member of the CALL Festival Committee and the CALL Academy, Robert Dornhelm brings his comprehensive international experience and his artistic perspective to the programmatic and curatorial work of the festival.
Mirjam Unger
Mirjam Unger is a renowned, ROMY-award-winning Austrian director, screenwriter, and filmmaker, known for her sensitive, precise, and at the same time powerful storytelling in both documentary and feature film. Her works are distinguished by a particular closeness to her characters, a clear visual signature, and a fine sense for socially relevant themes.
Her widely praised feature film „Maikäfer flieg!“ (Fly Away Home) as well as the successful series „Tage, die es nicht gab“ (Days That Never Were) were positively received by audiences and critics alike, underscoring her ability to combine emotional stories with cultural depth. In addition, she has directed numerous important Austrian film and television productions and established herself as a fixture of German-language television.
Unger is valued for her particular storytelling craft, which links personal stories with social questions while always remaining authentic and accessible.
As a member of the CALL Festival Committee, she brings her comprehensive experience, her creative perspective, and her strong connection to Austrian film culture to the shaping of the festival.
Scott Orlin
Scott Orlin is the current President of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) and a seasoned veteran of international award shows. Born in Atlanta, he has for many years been the US correspondent for Cinema Magazine, Europe’s largest film magazine, and is thus deeply rooted in the international film and media landscape.
Together with Elisabeth Sereda, he played a defining role over more than two decades in the planning, production, and content shaping of the Golden Globes. This included, among other things, the selection of hosts, the curatorial support of the show, and overall organisational responsibility for one of the world’s most important entertainment events.
With his comprehensive experience in international film and award-ceremony formats, Scott Orlin brings unique expertise to the strategic and organisational development of the CALL Film Festival.
Georg Kindel
Georg Kindel is an internationally experienced media and TV producer as well as the founder of the World Awards, which he launched together with Mikhail Gorbachev and which he realised over more than a decade as a globally noted TV gala, from Hamburg to New York. As part of this extraordinary honour, personalities were recognised who have shaped and changed the world in lasting ways, including Michael Douglas, Simon Wiesenthal, Steven Spielberg, Whoopi Goldberg, Susan Sarandon, Richard Branson, and Paul McCartney.
As producer, he was responsible for all TV broadcasts of the World Awards, which were aired in more than 40 countries and reached an international audience of millions.
In addition, he has founded several media and TV production companies in Europe and the USA, and has comprehensive experience in the development and realisation of global entertainment and award formats.
A recognised expert in international media, TV, film formats, and award shows, Georg Kindel is Chairman of the CALL Academy and Festival Manager of the CALL Film Festival, which is dedicated to combining artistic excellence with social responsibility.
