The CALL Academy: New ways of engaging with inspiring people

As a new platform for film, art, culture, business, science and social change, the CALL Academy brings together artists, filmmakers, academics, opinion leaders and business leaders. The CALL Film Festival is not the only event set to become an annual highlight of the Academy’s calendar; numerous other events are also planned throughout the year.

CALL Academy: A new platform for film, ideas, and social change

The CALL Academy will be established in autumn 2026 as a platform of the CALL Film Festival. It sees itself as an international network for creative exchange, inspiration, and responsible shaping of the future. Its aim is to bring together and connect people from film, media, and culture with leading figures from business, science, technology, and civil society.

New places of dialogue

In a time of profound social change, we need new places of dialogue. The CALL Academy wants to be such a place – open, interdisciplinary, and international. Here, filmmakers, actors, producers, writers, and creatives meet entrepreneurs, researchers, artists, thought leaders, and representatives of social initiatives.

Our mission

The CALL Academy believes in the power of stories, ideas, and collaboration. Film and culture shape perception, create empathy, and set change in motion. At the same time, many answers to the questions of our time arise at the intersections between disciplines. That is precisely where the Academy comes in.

It promotes the exchange between creative excellence and social responsibility. It creates connections between art and innovation, between economic thinking and cultural vision, between scientific insight and emotional impact. The aim is to open up new perspectives and to make shared solutions visible.

Our goals

The CALL Academy seeks to support talent, strengthen international networks, and enable lasting collaborations. It initiates conversations on peace, the environment, technology, democracy, responsibility, and the future of storytelling. It supports creative projects with social relevance and brings together people who want to make a difference.

In addition, the Academy is committed to diversity, equal opportunity, and cultural openness. It seeks to make visible voices that open up new perspectives and that actively help to shape the future of film.

Formats of the Academy

Planned formats include networking events, masterclasses, salons, think tanks, panels, writers’ rooms, labs, and exclusive roundtables. International figures from film, business, science, and culture will share their knowledge and work together on ideas. In addition, mentoring programmes, initiatives for emerging talent, and curated formats for encounter will be developed.

The CALL Academy will organise both digital offerings and in-person gatherings at selected locations. The highlight of each year will be the CALL Film Festival in Bad Hofgastein, where members of the Academy come together and make their impulses visible.

A community with attitude

Inspired by the great international academies of the film and music worlds, the CALL Academy sees itself as a community of people who combine excellence with attitude. It honours outstanding achievements, promotes dialogue, and strengthens the social significance of art and culture.

The CALL Academy is more than a network. It is an invitation to work together towards a better future – creatively, courageously, and internationally.
