In selecting our films, we have tried to draw a great central arc: we want to show films that have a message, a cause. Films that show how to overcome difficulties in life. Films that motivate. But also films that open our eyes – and that perhaps bring us closer to a truth we have not seen before.

The Grand Reinhold Messner Retrospective
The CALL Film Festival is delighted to present the world’s first cinematic retrospective of, with, and about the most significant mountaineer, boundary-pusher, and adventurer of our time: Reinhold Messner. At the festival, you can also experience Reinhold Messner in person at a masterclass, a lecture, Q&A sessions, and an autograph session.
Public Screening at the Alpenarena Bad Hofgastein
We want to give as many people as possible the chance to take part in our CALL Film Festival. That is why we invite you to the Alpenarena Bad Hofgastein on Friday, 29 May 2026 and Saturday, 30 May 2026 for talks with prominent guests of the CALL Film Festival – followed, after sunset from 9 p.m., by selected films with free admission, screened on a monumental, 15-metre-wide screen.

CALL for Nature Selection
It had the most successful film opening of any biopic in history: „Michael“, the film about the life of pop superstar Michael Jackson, depicting his meteoric rise up to 1988, took an astonishing 217 million dollars at the worldwide box office on its opening weekend. Sharply criticised by the media for leaving out controversial themes of his life, the film nevertheless became a global audience hit. We are showing the film above all for one reason: Michael Jackson was the first pop megastar to campaign throughout his life for the preservation of our environment and our planet. Songs such as „Earth Song“ remain a manifesto and a sign of how art can package a complex subject musically in order to make people think. That is why „Michael“ is screening as part of our „CALL for Nature Selection“.
We invite everyone to come and form their own opinion and watch the film with free admission at the Alpenarena Bad Hofgastein.
